Spring Final Exams Bell Schedule & Exemption Policy

SCHOOL DEVICE COLLECTION

Underclassmen

You will turn in your school devices and charger during the week of May 13th through 16th during your 3rd period class.

A $30.00 fine will be issued for all lost chargers. All other damages will be assessed when you return your device. All devices must be returned, or they will be marked stolen and a $250.00 fine will be assessed.

Counseling Updates
SUMMIT COUNSELING SUMMER GROUPS

The Summit Counseling Center, our on-site therapy partner, is offering free summer therapy groups to students at our school. These groups cover topics like anxiety, healthy relationships and social skills, self-esteem, and confidence, and preparing for college. The groups meet once per week for 5 weeks of the summer. Registration will close on May 10, so go ahead and sign your student up today at the link below!

COLLEGE APPLICATIONS & SCHOLARSHIPS

LOGIN TO NAVIANCE TO COMPLETE the following tasks:

  1. Proof of college acceptance
    1. This task can be a bit time consuming, but the data is imperative to the accuracy of the Naviance College Comparison feature.
  2. Proof of Scholarship
    1. We want to acknowledge your accomplishments.  Please upload a pdf or Word document of all the scholarships you have received.  This information will be shared during graduation.

FINAL TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS

Seniors have 3 ways to request their final transcript to be sent to colleges. 

1. Common App

You do not need to do anything if you applied to the college you plan to enroll through Common App.  Counselors will automatically load Final Reports (transcripts) to Common App and send by June 3rd, 2024.

2. Scrib Order

For students who did not apply to college through Common App, you should request your final transcript via https://fultonga.scriborder.com/. Transcript requests will be processed by June 3rd, 2024.

3. Georgia Futures (Georgia colleges & universities only)

Log into your GA Futures account at www.gafutures.org. Click the “MY HIGHSCHOOL TRANSCRIPT” located in GREEN on the left side of the page. Follow the prompts to select your school and click SEND, on or after June 3rd, 2024.

 

HOPE, ZELL, SCHOLARSHIPS, & FINANCIAL AID

1. Complete the online Georgia Student Finance Application (GSFAPP) 

  • The GSFAPP is how they can apply for HOPE Scholarship or Grant, Zell Miller Scholarship or Grant, and (if attending an eligible private college) the Tuition Equalization Grant.
  • The GSFAPP can be completed in 3-5 minutes and is good for 10 years.

2. Check their current HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship GPA Calculation in their GAfutures Dashboard through the My High School HOPE GPA tab.

3. Complete 2024-25 FAFSA – Check out the information in GAfutures to get started  https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

*Students must have a GAfutures Student account to be able to access the application and their High School HOPE GPA. Their profile must include their correct name, high school name, address, date of birth, and social security number.

JUNIORS

Quest Bridge National College Match Program is a college admission and scholarship process through which high-achieving, low-income students can be admitted early with full four-year scholarships to QuestBridge college partners. The application process for the class of 2025 will likely open August 1, 2024.   For more information visit https://www.questbridge.org/high-school-students 

 

P.E.O. STAR Scholarship 

The P.E.O. STAR Scholarship (STAR) was established in 2009 to provide scholarships for exceptional women in their final year of high school to attend an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the U.S. or Canada in the next academic year. HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER LEARNING OPPORTUNTIES

Retake Previously Failed Course

Fulton County Schools offers three summer learning opportunities for high school students who need to retake a previously failed course https://www.fultonschools.org/Page/28331

1. Face to face summer school at Milton High School (register through Infinite Campus)

2. Fulton Virtual Learning Program (register through Infinite Campus)

3. Fulton County Credit Recovery (hosted at Alpharetta High School)

As you consider your options, please keep in mind that one course is the equivalent of a semester-long class for a 0.5 credit.  Students are limited to taking:

  • 2 courses in a Face-to-Face setting
  • 2 courses in Fulton Virtual, maximum 1 credit
  • AHS Credit Recovery, no maximum limit. Courses loaded 1 at a time.

Depending on student need, a student may be simultaneously enrolled in more than one summer learning option.


IMPORTANT!!!!!
Please note that students who fail a semester of an EOC course, but opt against summer school participation, must follow the Summer School “Opt-Out” instructions online.This is simply your way of declaring your desire to opt out of summer school. If students select this option, students will need to take the course prior to graduation, as all EOC courses are required for graduation.

If you wish for your student to opt-out, please follow theSummer Learning Opt-Out Directions.

 

Summer Acceleration

Students may also accelerate their learning during the summer by taking a course for the first time through the Fulton Virtual.  Tuition is required to take a course for the first time during the summer.

BEST In CLASS Mock ACT or SAT

Alpharetta HS students – Are you planning to use the summertime to prepare for SAT or ACT testing? Want to know where you score on the SAT or ACT test?

 

Join Best in Class for a mock SAT or ACT test on one of our three summertime dates:

 One mock test offered per student.

This test will be followed by a private consultation to discuss in detail how to improve your score.

The fee for this test and consultation is $75 - participants also receive a $75 voucher toward any Best in Class college test prep offering.

Looking for help preparing? Our classes for the SAT test start on June 8th and July 27th, and for the ACT test on June22nd. Seats are available.

CELEBRATIONS

Congratulations to Kimberly Yasmin Dunn for winning first place in the dance category at the state level!  Kimberly was only one of two metro Atlanta High School Students who won first place at the state level. What a major accomplishment, we are so proud of and excited for Kimberly as her dance submission will move on to be judged at the National level.
