AHS Counselor Focus Day

October is one of the busiest months for college application processing. On October 15, AHS counselors will dedicate time to reviewing and uploading Early Action supporting documents for seniors. To maximize productivity and meet application deadlines, counselors will temporarily step away from general phone calls and walk-in assistance throughout the day.

Thank you for your support as we help students successfully complete the college application process.

College Application & Recommendation Reminders

The first Early Action application deadline for many colleges and universities is approaching on October 15. If you plan to apply by this deadline, please ensure that all application materials are submitted on time, including transcript requests, counselor forms, letters of recommendation, and test scores.

Please connect your SchooLinks account to Common App as soon as possible, even if you are not yet ready to submit your application. Connecting the platforms allows your counselors and teachers to upload required recommendation letters and supporting documents. Delaying this step can prevent school documents from being sent in a timely manner.

Additionally, counselor forms, teacher letters of recommendation, transcripts, and official test scores should be received by colleges by October 29 for most Early Action applicants. Review each college's requirements carefully, monitor your application portals for missing items, and contact your counselor if you have questions or need assistance.

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is OPEN

The Department of Education launched the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) earlier than ever before -- a change it says will help families navigate the rising cost of college amid affordability concerns. The 2027-28 FAFSA form is now live on https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
