The AHS School Governance Council started off the year with a virtual meeting on January 13, 2021. The January meeting was focused on second semester updates, school planning and AHS People & Culture items. The SGC works hard to support the governance of the school and give important feedback to the school leaders. Click HERE for more information on the AHS SCG (meeting dates and minutes, AHS Strategic Plan, RFFs, etc.).
The focus of the SGC this semester will be on the People & Culture pillar of our strategic plan, specifically focusing on several items presented by our student leaders in December. Their presentation, with both short and long term goals, gave the AHS SGC a glimpse at some new ideas to support this strategic pillar. Thank you to these students for bringing these goals forward. The SGC will be looking at ways to support this People & Culture initiative with new ideas.

Looking ahead, AHS SGC will be focusing on:
#1 - Budget Process
We are awaiting our final projected student counts for next year so we can begin our budget process. Our Budget is due to FCS on March 12th. February will be a busy month for our Budget Committee members and AHS Administration. The number of students projected and master schedule define much of our budget allocation process.
#2 - Election Process
AHS SGC will be looking to fill three elected positions total: Two elected parent/guardian positions and one elected teacher position. Candidate Declaration will be February 3rd-26th. Terms will be 2 years from 7/1/21 thru 6/30/23 If you are interested in being more involved in the leadership of AHS please consider running. It is an important role that provides leadership and input at a high level. Please visit: www.fultonschools.org/elections
The School Governance Council will meet again February 9th at 7:40am via Microsoft Office Teams. Click HERE to join the SGC meeting and be sure to grab the agenda from the website.
