PSAT Testing - October 13

The PSAT will be administered to all enrolled students in grades 9-11 on Wednesday, October 13th. This will be a face-to-face administration. This test administration is optional and there is no penalty for students who choose not to participate. Students will be dismissed at 12:30pm following the PSAT.

 

For our seniors, October 13th will be an asynchronous day of learning from home.

Homecoming 2021

The time has come – it's Homecoming season!! We are hard at work planning for the Homecoming Spirit Week and Dance!


Spirit Week ( click HERE to see examples for each day!)

  • Monday, 10/25: Pajama Day (dress code will be enforced)
  • Tuesday, 10/26: Tacky Tourist Day
  • Wednesday, 10/27: Country Club v. Country
  • Thursday, 10/28: Y2K/90’s Day (dress code will be enforced)
  • Friday, 10/29: Dynamic Duo
  • Please participate! Post your photos on social media and tag/follow Alpharetta Student Council!


Homecoming Court

  • Voting (10/11/2021-10/15/2021)
    • Voting for Homecoming King and Queen is reserved for seniors only. Voting will open at 8:00am on Monday, October 11. 2021 and will close on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 11:59pm. All seniors should check their FCSTU emails for the link to vote!
  • Announcement
    • All students on Homecoming Court will be recognized at the Homecoming football game on Friday, October 30, 2021 during halftime, including the announcement of the 2021 Homecoming King and Queen!
  • If you have any questions regarding Homecoming Court, please email Whitney Decaminada at decaminada@fultonschools.org.


Homecoming Dance

  • Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 8-11pm at AHS
  • Theme: Masquerade Ball
  • Tickets are $25.00 each. Buy your tickets at www.tinyurl.com/HOCO2021tickets!
    • Tickets are $40 at the door so be sure to get yours NOW!
  • ***IMPORTANT INFO: If you are bringing someone who is NOT an AHS student, they must meet the following guidelines:
    • Must not be older than 20 years old.
    • Arrive with a physical government ID for check-in.

Student Council Coat Drive

Student Council has partnered with YMSL and the VEO (Veterans Empowerment Organization) to host a coat drive! Please donate your new or gently used coats by placing them in one of the donation boxes located in the front office or outside of Suite 1255. Let's help our veterans in need! If you are a Student Council member, please bring your donated coat(s) to Mr. Bolin in Room 4314.

Join us each month for our SGC Meetings!

  • The AHS School Governance Council meets each month and is responsible for making decisions regarding the strategic direction of the school. All meetings are open to the public and can be viewed via Microsoft Teams. Please check the SGC website for the link to join the meeting each month (located under Meeting Dates). Here are the remaining SGC meetings for the Fall 2021 semester:
    • Tuesday, November 9, 2021
    • Tuesday, December 7, 2021
  • The SGC also welcomes and encourages public comment at our meetings. If you wish to participate in public comment, please email Martine Zurinskas (SGC Chair) at ZurinskasM@fultonschools.org to be added to the agenda at least 24 hours prior to the start of the meeting.


Value Added Flexibility Waivers open for public comment!

  • AHS has applied for a total of eight (8) Value Added Flexibility Waivers to FCS.
  • Value-Added Flexibilities (VAF) are AHS requests for local and state policy waivers that strategically support planning efforts by adding value for defined stakeholder groups.
  • AHS SGC is proud of past flexibilities we have been able to achieve to meet the needs of our academic community. Part of this process is to have PUBLIC COMMENT.  Please take a moment to review each VAF request and submit your public Comment no later than October 16th. Questions, please contact the SGC.

Sophomore & Junior Advisement Meeting


Please join the AHS School Counseling Department for the virtual Sophomore and Junior class advisement meeting

The Alpharetta High School Counseling department will host a virtual Live Teams Sophomore & Junior Advisement meeting Monday, October 18th and Friday, October 22nd during 5th period Advisement (12:09 -12:39).  

Sophomore and Junior Advisement teachers will broadcast the meeting and we invite parents to join us via Teams, using the link below.  There will be an opportunity for Q & A chat session.

  1. Login to your application portals and make sure you sign the FERPA waiver. We cannot process college apps if the FERPA Waiver is not signed.  If you have questions see your counselor or stop by Center of Excellence (room 1120) during lunch any Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.
  2. Complete your College Bound Information Survey in Naviance ASAP!
  3. Submit your college applications.  Please do not wait until the deadline.
  4. Apply for financial aid!  FAFSA application opened October 1.  Click here for the FAFSA Application.

2021-2022 National PTA Reflections Art Competition

Young artists get involved in the 2021-2022 Reflections program through the Alpharetta High School PTSA. Any student may submit an entry in any of six arts areas. Only original works of art are accepted. The six art areas are: Visual Arts Photography, Literature, Music Composition, Dance Choreography, and Film Production.

DUE DATE IS OCTOBER 19 to the Media Center. 

Entry Forms can be picked up in the media center or art, band or chorus teacher’s rooms. 

This year’s theme is “I Will Change The World By……”

Front Office Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers daily to help in the front office and attendance office. Your job will be explained to you when you arrive; learn valuable knowledge regarding school policies and procedures.  This is a great job for our new Freshman families, as well as, our existing parents!

Calling all AHS Media Center Volunteers!  The Media Center has a need for a daily volunteer to assist with checking students in during Lunch.  The hours are 11:05 AM -1:40 PM.
