AHS Scheduling Night 2023 - Jan. 31st 6pm

Attention rising 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grade AHS students!  Believe it or not, it is now time to begin thinking about what courses you will take next year.

Please save the date, January 31st, for AHS' annual “Scheduling Night”. This is a virtual event that Dr. Kersey will kick off at 6:00 pm on January 31st. This informative content, created by AHS teachers, can help you and your students make informed decisions about what courses to take next year, with information specific to rising freshmen and upperclassmen! Look for link details on the AHS website - https://www.fultonschools.org/domain/8022

2023-24 AHS Parking Application

Parking at Alpharetta High School is a privilege. Unfortunately, AHS does not have enough spaces to accommodate every student who is capable of parking. Because of this, only Seniors and IB Diploma students will be prioritized.

Parking spaces will be issued to qualified students on a year-long basis via a lottery system. ThePARKING FEE is $100 PER YEAR. It is expected that every student applying for a parking sticker reads and understands the parking regulations. It is the student’s responsibility to read these regulations, and all students will be held accountable for this information.

Students and/or legal guardians must provide all required information listed on the application below and upload those documents at the time of application to be eligible for the lottery. A legible photocopy of the student’s driver’s license and a copy of the valid insurance card for the registered vehicle must accompany all applications. Students applying for parking with only an instructional permit must have a driver’s license, complete the application and pick up a parking sticker by noon on the Friday of the first week of school – 8/11/2023. Parking stickers will be issued to only one vehicle and are not transferable.

NOTE: Students with a parking sticker that choose to park in visitors without permission will lose their parking sticker for 10 days (without refund), must re-apply, and will be placed at the end of the waitlist.  This will replace the $75 boot fine for the first offense.

The auction for the Foundation parking spots is a separate process that will begin in August and is ran by the AHS Foundation. Foundation spots are reserved 24/7 and the boot removal fine is $150. DO NOT PARK THERE!

Important Dates:

  • 2023-2024 AHS Parking App Due: Tuesday, 1/31/2023 at 11:59pm (NOTE: students must login with their FCSTU email)
  • Only fill out the parking application if you are attending Alpharetta High School for the 2023-2024 school year and are a rising junior (class of 2025) or senior (class of 2024)
  • Parking sticker winners and the waiting list will be posted to the AHS parking website on Thursday, 2/2/2023 by 4:00pm
  • Students that win a parking spot will receive an email with instructions to pay and pick up their sticker the week of 8/1/2023
  • Parking stickers not picked up by noon on Friday, 8/11/2023 will be given to the next student on the waiting list

Contact Mrs. (Decaminada) Jankovic with questions.

IB January Community Meeting

All parents and students are invited to join the first IB Community meeting of the 2023 year on January 25, 2023 from 6:30-7:30pm in the AHS Media Center.

This meeting will focus on an overview of IB with a specific emphasis on the Extended Essay. Parents of current Diploma Programme students, rising Year 1 students, or underclassmen who might be interested in pursuing IB beginning in 11th grade will find much of this information helpful and informative.

IB Exams Help Needed!

Although it seems far off, IB Exams in May are just around the corner and we have a significant need for assistance with our exams this year. Any parents willing to assist with exams are much appreciated, and students do not need to be enrolled in IB classes for parents to assist. Exams will be during the weeks of April 28-May 17 and have both morning and afternoon exam sessions. We appreciate any and all assistance, however many and however few! Please also note that the only restrictions are that parents cannot assist with an exam for which their student is currently testing this year.

For more details and to volunteer for timeslots, please complete the form here<https://forms.office.com/r/iKTQ6aEFJE> so that Mr. Fortunato can follow up as we get closer to testing.

If you have any questions about IB or IB testing, please reach out to Frank Fortunato (fortunato@fultonschools.org).

Your PTSA Dollars at Work

The Alpharetta PTSA has been able to make some wonderful donations to our school this year on behalf of the parent community. These grants allow for innovative, exciting activities that would not normally be possible under the traditional school budget. The PTSA makes every dollar count--no donation is too small! Thank you for your generous donations to the PTSA!

We will be showcasing some of these grant recipients in the upcoming ENN editions. This week we are featuring a grant for Mrs. Estrada. The PTSA provided the supplies for a creative, hands-on Day of the Dead activity with her Spanish and Culinary classes.  Students were able to learn about the cultural significance of the holiday and make their own personal sugar skulls.

Free Applerouth Tutoring for Math and Science

Alpharetta High School will be offering free Applerouth tutoring services in the media center on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays from 11:30am – 12:04pm and 12:40pm – 1:30pm beginning on January 18.

Please see the flyers for the specific classes that are best offered. For the best success, bring topics, homework, or classwork.
