ADDRESSING THE OPIOID EPIDEMIC

The next North Fulton Mental Health Collaborative is scheduled for 10:00am on Thursday, November 30th at Alpharetta First United Methodist Church. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/addressing-the-opioid-epidemic-tickets-716092841967

Studies have shown the rapid rise of opioid use in north Fulton and surrounding northern counties in recent years. Just this month, the Johns Creek and Forsyth County Drug Task Force seized nearly 300 grams of fentanyl (enough to kill more than 140,000 people).

Join Summit Counseling for an insightful perspective as we delve into the critical issue of opioid use and abuse within our community.  Beatrice King, Opioid Public Health Analyst for the Fulton County Board of Health will be addressing:

  • Opioid classifications and examples
  • History of the epidemic
  • Overdose prevention strategies
  • Narcan training and distribution (quantities limited)

If you are unable to make it to our in-person meeting, feel free to view our live stream via our Facebook page @NFMHC.

STUDENT SUPPORT

As we approach the fall, school begins picking up and the weight of different responsibilities can begin to feel overwhelming. Many of our students deal with high levels of school anxiety and academic stress. They are being asked to juggle college level classes, extracurricular activities, sports, clubs, and full social lives. All these things combined can increase anxiety disorders and depression in middle and high school students. This blog will seek to provide helpful information on warning signs of anxiety and depression in your students and ways to help address academic stress. https://summitcounseling.org/how-to-support-students-facing-academic-pressure-stress/

AHS Foundation
Special Fundraising Request for AHS Faculty and Staff Holiday Gathering

Dear AHS Community,

Last holiday season, our AHS faculty and staff enjoyed a wonderful gathering because of your generosity! They were so joyful, relaxed, and grateful in the celebration that our AHS community made happen.

Most of us may not know the public-school budget has no room for events or celebrations to honor and support teachers and staff. While the education system has been impacted severely with a high turnover rate these years, we appreciate AHS staff has remained much more stable to support the students growing in four pillars: Academics, Arts, Athletics, and Altruism. AHS is ranked by Niche.com #3 Best Public High School in Georgia, #2 Best Public High School Teachers in Georgia, #4 Best College Prep Public High School in Georgia, and #124 Best Public High School in the nation Alpharetta High School in Alpharetta, GA - Niche

We would like to ask our AHS community to consider supporting a holiday celebration for our devotional faculty and staff to make them feel special again! 100% donations received will be used for this purpose. For the families donated to this campaign, their family names will be presented at the holiday gathering!

This donation link is open now through Giving Tuesday, November 28th, 2023:
