SUMMER LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Retake Previously Failed Course

Fulton County Schools offers three summer learning opportunities for high school students who need to retake a previously failed course:

  1. Face-to-Face Summer School (hosted at Milton High School) https://www.fultonschools.org/Page/28331
  2. Fulton Virtual Learning Program (register through Infinite Campus) https://www.fultonschools.org/Page/28331
  3. Fulton County Credit Recovery (hosted at Alpharetta High School) email bolina@fultonschools.org

Summer Acceleration

Students may also accelerate their learning during the summer by taking a course for the first time through the Fulton Virtual.  Tuition is required to take a course for the first time during the summer.
As you consider your options, please keep in mind that one course is the equivalent of a semester-long class for a 0.5 credit.  Students are limited to taking:

  • 2 courses in a Face-to-Face setting
  • 2 courses in Fulton Virtual

Depending on student need, a student may be simultaneously enrolled in more than one summer learning option.

The Congressional Youth Advisory Councilof U. S. Representative Rich McCormick

The CYAC program consists of six meetings that will be either virtually or in person. If accepted into the program, you must be able to attend meetings.

Hope/Zell/FAFSA

As we continue to navigate the complexities of college admissions and financial aid, it's essential to explore all available avenues to support our students in achieving their educational aspirations. One critical resource that warrants attention is the Georgia Student Finance Commission's (GSFC) state scholarship application, specifically designed for students to apply for the Zell Miller and the HOPE Scholarships. Considering the recent challenges associated with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), it's increasingly imperative that we advocate for alternatives that streamline the financial aid process and ensure equitable access to higher education for all students. https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

The Georgia Student Finance Application, or GSFApp, is a good alternative for Georgia high school students. The GSFApp offers a short application process that is specifically tailored to the requirements of the Zell Miller and HOPE Scholarships. It remains valid for ten years and can be done in addition to the FAFSA.   Complete the GSFApp onlie at  www.gafutures.org .
